CGiii Comment
Having absolute no interest in the royal family whatsoever, seasons 1 & 2 came and went - despite the public furore - without a blink from our collective eyes.
Then, Olivia Coleman entered the fray [in season 3]...and, our ears pricked up like excited bunnies! Wow, talk about scathing...
The only 'royal' who walks away from season 3 with his reputation intact is...Charles. The rest...well, bearing in mind that this is absolute fiction embroiled within historical facts...they are systematically hung, drawn and quartered.
The queen...devoid of [all] feeling. Philip...an absolute goon. Margaret...a vile, jealous drunk. Anne...she didn't only ride horses! The queen mother...a conniving schemer. And all they ever want is more money!
If the production team wanted to make a statement in favour of Republicanism...here it is! Loud and clear...money misspent for the continuation of a farce.
With Andrew's latest imprudence and demise, the relevance of this institution needs to be questioned and analysed...and, reformed.
Season 4 will be interesting...Gillian Anderson playing Margaret Thatcher...and, how will they depict the queen's refusal to fly the flag at half mast? She bowed under public pressure then, she must be reeling at the public's appreciation for this fictional TV series!
