CGiii Comment

Good performances cannot save this soap-opera-ish look at middle-class America - unengaging and unsympathetic.

A few likeable characters may have saved this from the despondency you are destined to feel by the end.

Close is, as usual, strong - not particularly difficult - given her role.

Overall, it's another stab at mid-America - in the style of American Beauty - without its slick skill.

Yet another finely-cast movie...for the bargain bin.
