CGiii Comment

Complex and very, very expensive...Netflix has pulled this one right out of the hat!!!

Altered Carbon requires concentration...with all the backstories and body-swapping, it does seem - at times - difficult to keep up...but, with that added extra attention, the pay-off pays back...in abundance. So, don't give up on it...watch it through to the end!

The production values are sky high...there may not be a myriad of huge names [to swallow the budget] on show, the new names and new faces keep it fresh...rarely can a TV show be described as exhilarating...this - really - is...

The story is a cyberpunk's fantasy-cum-true...dense and detailed as it is, each episode reveals a valuable nugget that propels it - fast-paced - forward...weaving in between set action sequences that are on par with anything that Hollywood delivers.

Yes, comparisons with the almighty Bladerunner are obvious and deserved...the cyberpunk world has a commonality in vision and tone...but, when the science [in the sci-fi] is believable and within reaching distance...that's when the magic starts to work!

Solid, superlative TV.

No doubt, there will be a second season...you can almost hear the established actors ringing their agents and demanding a part...or, a cameo at least!!!

The(ir) Blurb...

In the future, people's consciousnesses are contained in what are called 'stacks', storage devices attached to the back of a person's neck. Physical bodies are turned into what's called 'sleeves', mere disposable vessels. Takeshi Kovacs, a violent mercenary, wakes up 250 years after his sleeve is killed, and he's given the choice to either spend the rest of his life in prison for his crimes, or help solve the murder of the wealthiest man in the world.
