CGiii Comment

Sometimes...when you least expect it, along comes a little TV movie that blows your socks off!

Guilt and grief, two things a young life need not have staring him in the face. Jonas carries that weight, day in...day out.

This is not your typical lost-love story...this has complexity and hidden depth...all is revealed through a carefully constructed timeline that shifts from the past to the present and back again. Due credit must go to Christophe Charrier for making these shifts smooth and plausible.

Each little revelation serves as an appetiser before the main event...when the unimaginable happens. There's no gore, there's no sensationalism...but, the horror is within touching distance...because, bells will ring inside your heads, when you did something similar!

We've all done something stupid in our lives. Some of us get away with it...some, don't.

Jonas is a character study of man...ravaged, with his finger constantly poised over the self-destruct button. Félix Maritaud delivers pain and anguish...and, calculation...with a beautifully tough fragility.

The contrasts are constant and consistent...young love and the laissez-faire that youth allows...to...the loneliness and crushing burden of a reluctant adulthood.

If only we could turn back time...Christophe Charrier does...and, it's a hearbreak.

An exceptional little film.
