CGiii Comment

Cameroonian filmmaker Appolain Siewe journeys back to his home country to investigate the roots of homophobia within the local psyche.

Triggered by the recent death of a Cameroonian activist, Siewe travels home to initiate conversations within his community regarding homosexuality. From the offset, Siewe’s family ostracises him and he finds himself confronted with the steep cost of African allyship. Featuring discussions with various scholars and activists, the film highlights the role European colonial laws have played in erasing queer African cultures.
