CGiii Comment

To fully appreciate what Mark Rappaport has done, you really need to know a little about Eisenstein...this is a [credible] re-interpretation of the facts. And...a brilliant summary of the gay filmmaking trailblazers of yesteryear.

Utterly fascinating, sometimes hilarious...and, really, rather moving.

The(ir) Blurb...

Was Sergej Ejzestejn, the unrivalled master of Soviet cinema, gay? This is a provocative theory put forward by documentary film maker Mark Rappaport who shows images taken from Ejzestejn's masterpieces, such as Strike, Battleship Potemkin and Ivan the Terrible. Male bodies that are naked, tied up, tortured, spied on and adored complete a roguish video essay, as ironic as a mockumentary. In this video essay, the masterpieces by the great Russian film maker encounter Western LGBTQI cinema.
