CGiii Comment

Fritz Haarman...the Butcher of Hanover.

This is almost like a colourful version of Fritz Lang's M.

However, this is a little more graphic, none of the subtleties nor the censorship of M.

It is disturbingly atmospheric - clear evidence that Lommel can actually direct something of merit.

So what happened to his later career?

Could he only direct when Fassbinder-his-guru was around?

The(ir) Blurb...

In 1925, in Germany, Fritz Haarmann is a homosexual, thief and sneak, having a special license from the police. He sells meat in the black market. He also kills boys and young men, drinking their blood, quarter-sewing their bodies and throwing away the parts in a river. Certainly what he sells in the black market is human meat.
