CGiii Comment

Bobby Riggs. What an unimaginably horrid little irritating man. A disgrace not only to tennis - but, to mankind...the embodiment of a chauvinist swine.

Do you need to like tennis? Not necessarily.

This is more about the gender inequalities experienced - not just in sport - in life.

No...it's not...it's about money.

That age-old argument raises its ugly head...should women be paid the same amount as men? A 3-set game versus the 5-set game! Well, that old chestnut is put to rest...if the 3-set game draws the same (or a bigger) audience...(and it does)...game, set and match.

What does come across is...the money! The love of the game...disappears...evaporates into a cloud of dollar bills. It's all about the money. Sponsorship, advertisers...money, money, money. Tobacco...cough, wheeze...serve...give me the money!!!

The actual 'battle of the sexes' match is thrown in at the end. This is the backstory...leading up to...what can only be described as a...publicity stunt...on a grand scale.

A stunt to fuel a gambling addiction, Riggs-the-irritant is a toxic gambler...Billie Jean...well, divorces can be costly.

Too cynical? Not in the slightest - although the feminists will be livid...watch it...no matter what they say, however they may disguise it...it was (and is) all about the money.

Sincerity, integrity...two words overshadowed by the cash.

The feature film is on its way!

The(ir) Blurb...

It was a match made in heaven: she was the darling of American tennis, an outspoken activist against sexism in sport and society; he was the charismatic, fast talking, hustling chauvinist showman. Yet their unlikely 'courtship', in the midst of a social revolution, captured the imaginations of people around the world, empowered a generation, and changed sport forever.
