CGiii Comment

The novel is wondrous, the film is trash.

The blame lies squarely with Richardson.

The casting is terrible, the writing appalling - considering he just copied it from a book, it is unforgiveable.

The richness of the book becomes a squalid desert of lowlights.

A terrific example of how not to adapt a book.

The(ir) Blurb...

The film talks about a family that weathers all sorts of disasters and keeps going in spite of it all. It is noted for its wonderful assortment of oddball characters.
