Treatise on Japanese Bawdy Songs (A)

Country: Japan, Language: Japanese, 103 mins

Original Title

Nihon Shunka-Kô...aka: Sing a Song of Sex
  • Director: Nagisa Ôshima
  • Writer: Nagisa Ôshima; Mamoru Sasaki

CGiii Comment

Inaccessible and dreary.

Nagisa Ôshima not a man known for his light-hearted touch..

Big on imagery, dependent on dour...and, sluggish with the narrative.

It's a hard slog through to the end with little (or no) satisfaction whatsoever.
