CGiii Comment

The story of the gay man behind the classic comedy juggernaut 9 TO 5 as well as HAROLD AND MAUDE, FOUL PLAY, SILVER STREAK, and the musical comedy THE BEST LITTLE WHOREHOUSE IN TEXAS is told in this warm, star-studded documentary. Colin Higgins, the shyest of six brothers, grew up in Australia and, through a series of career starts and stops, found himself one of the hottest screenwriters and directors in Hollywood. Growing up in the 60s and 70s, his life and work were shaped amidst the turmoil of the Vietnam War and the burgeoning Gay Rights movement. Higgins, who succumbed to AIDS at the height of his career, is lovingly and humorously recalled by Jane Fonda, Dolly Parton, Lily Tomlin, Dom Deluise, Charles Durning, and others in this insightful documentary directed by his close friend Nicholas Eliopoulos.
