It was always going to be a difficult one to pull off...considering Mr Fosse directed his own [predictive] bio-pic way back in 1979 with All That Jazz...
How can you not reference that film!?! It's impossible not to do so...his story, his words, his vision. Fosse/Verdon takes away one major ingredient, his narcissism...and, introduces Gwen Verdon - his cohort, his [long-suffering and tolerant] wife, Broadway star...and, his [un-credited] co-choreographer.
This is unflinching...Fosse's memory has was tarnished...by his own hand...and now, more so.
