  • Producer: Michael Brandman; Iris Merlis

CGiii Comment

One of the first films to deal with AIDS - released in the same year as Parting Glances.

As Is was originally a stage play (in the same year as The Normal Heart).

So, historically it can't be ignored.

It has more of a raw edge than PG...but, pulls away from the sentimentality of TNH - it is very verbose, very theatrical which some will disapprove of - but, the anger and the confusion remains intact.

It's a character study of perspectives - it may just skim the surface...but, no-one really knew what was going on then...

An important and, sadly, forgotten film.

There was a trailer...but, it has since disappeared.

The(ir) Blurb...

Story of a gay man who finds out he has aids and how people react.
