The power of dance...

Taking the 'toxic' out of masculinity, this 'experiment' shows just what can be achieved. Team-building is nothing new...but, this takes it to a whole new level. Breaking barriers, building bonds...the result is a deep-rooted camaraderie that produces results!

Those who criticised this project - namely, the 'toxic' sporting media - ought to be ashamed of themselves. The violence and hate associated with football is its shame...anything...anything at all to rectify this sorry state-of-affairs should be welcomed, encouraged and applauded...not scoffed at!

Perhaps, those who are involved with making football less toxic should look into the media and their reportage...because, this film clearly states that they - the reporters - are part of the problem!

Our only quibble: The film could have been longer, showing more of the actual performance.

Beautifully shot...and, weirdly, phenomenally moving...and, so damned positive.

The(ir) Blurb...

Östersunds Fotbollsklubb is no ordinary soccer team. For the past four years players, technical team, administrative and directive have collaborated on a cultural initiative that has seen them performing in their own theater piece, venturing into painting, and the publication of a book narrating their experiences as part of the club.

'See the Man' tracks the creation of their biggest project to date: a dance piece inspired by Swan Lake and choreographed by Maria Nilsson Waller.

The film is a document of this process, narrated through the personal experiences and opinions of its protagonists. Focusing on the two weeks from OFK’s last match of the season (and its triumphant ascend to Swedish first division) to the public presentation of their Tchaikovsky-fueled dance performance, 'See the Man' is a testament to bravery and a unique collision between arts and sports.
