Hats off to Joe Ahearne...not an easy thing to do, a comedy thriller...but, he pulls it out of the bag...with due care and attention...and, aplomb!

Spiteful gays and a toxic [teenage] queen battle it out with a badly-coiffured, bible-bashing conservative and a psychotic Russian ruffian...or, is he a Bulgarian bruiser?!?

Nothing is played for laughs...and, the laughs come aplenty...due to the polished - politcally incorrect - script...everyone gets a [well-deserved] bashing. Throw your sensitivities windward...because, Mr Ahearne threw all caution in the same direction...tongue-in-cheek it may be ...but, a few caustic points are caustically made. Ouch!

The plot - as daft as it is - writhes and twists and throws the unexpected right in your face...keeping you on the tips of your toes or tittering on the edge of your seat...it is a thriller after all...with references to classic films galore!

Paul McGann is perfect as the hard-core Jesus-junkie...a mighty and controlled foil against the torrent of acidic spite...from Tom Bateman's Marc - his rather splendid vileness is offset by his doting and adorable husband - Sean Teale.

However...Callum Woodhouse steals the show...what a character, a character so unctuous [and lovable] he [alone] deserves a sequel!!! Move over, Norman Bates!!!

B&B is dark, unapologetic, macabre fun - it's both subtle and in-your-face. More lip-biting than tongue-in-cheek...scathing and scandalous. If you get the humour, you'll love it. If you don't...watch it again and learn...because, if this is an acquired taste as some will - no doubt - profess it to be...ignore them...it's bloody delicious!
