CGiii Comment

This film takes place on Vladimir Zhirinovsky's campaign yacht, the 'Alexander Pushkin,' as it floats down the Volga river during his 1994 presidential campaign. Jennifer Gould, a journalist from Canada, and her young translator, Masha, are onboard to capture an interview with the notorious Russian right-wing demagogue. Zhirinovsky is always accompanied by his thugs, young men he refers to as his 'falcons.' Scenes of manipulation and entrapment occur, as the journalist attempts to get her interview, all the while being sexually harassed by Zhirinovsky. The entire dialogue is translated by Masha, who is also sexual target, not to mention the unwilling mouthpiece for Zhirinovsky's xenophobic, misogynistic views.
