Ontological Cowboy (The)
- Director: Marie Losier
CGiii Comment
“Theater is about sex”, states the theater director Richard Foreman, founder of the Ontological-Hysteric Theater, who reinvented American theater in the sixties. While working on a theater production, he elaborates on his conception of theater as a deeply erotic act. For instance, he explains that he did not like actors when he was young, because their very presence on stage came across to him as an injunction to love them. A fascinating immersion into Foreman’s thought, according to which theater is a way to explore the hidden desires of human soul. Marie Losier manages to capture the vital energy at the heart of one of the most original theater work of the last fifty years.
