CGiii Comment

Try as we do...to watch the pilot of every new TV series that graces our small screens...some, inevitably, do slip through our net.

Hap & Leonard seems to have slipped through the nets of the collective LGBT media...perhaps, Netflix et al. should look at their marketing strategies a little closer!

For this is a bromance with a [big] difference...one of them is gay! And, he ain't no stereotype either!

The pilot, a little uneven, in terms of...is it a comedy, is it a drama? Because, it does [unfortunately] have a Dukes of Hazard feel to it...let us hope that it goes more towards the drama...it certainly has the threads to do so...the nascent backstories have a punch to them, hopefully they will not be overshadowed by the silliness!

We will wait and see...for, we shall continue watching...which is not a bad thing to say about a pilot!!!

And...since it's entering it's third season...it - obviously - has a concrete fanbase. However, 18 episodes later...cancelled.

The(ir) Blurb...

Down on his luck after losing his job, '60s activist/ex-con Hap Collins can't help but listen when his seductive former wife Trudy, for whom he still pines, resurfaces with promises of finding a sunken treasure in the Deep South. Joining the adventure is Hap's unlikely buddy Leonard Pine, an openly gay black Vietnam War vet with a bad temper and little use for Trudy's feminine wiles. Soon enough the simple get-rich-quick scheme snowballs into bloody mayhem.
