CGiii Comment

From the director of The Dresser (excellent) and An Innocent Man (terrible)...

One word of warning: this is most definitely NOT the book, it is based very loosely on it.

It is a love story with all the themes of hate, jealously, denial and regret and all their complexities - here, they fail to materialise.

For a TV movie, it is beautifully realised...but, it seems that Yates has taken more from Dead Poets than from Fowles - the ultimate failing.

It's a watchable, wasted opportunity - one day, someone may make a fine film of this fine book.
