What would you do if you had the most detestable son in the history of mankind - who accidentally kills himself while having a wank?
Goldthwait asks that very question and reveals a dark, sometimes comic, side of grief and hypocrisy.
Williams does a fine job, the rest of the cast are inconsistent and the direction takes a few strange turns but, overall, it is a satisfying exploration of not-speaking-ill-of-the-dead.
It could have been darker, funnier and more disturbing - the few gay characters are really unnecessary...but, they are becoming de rigueur in every American teen-based movie.
Interesting - could have been something special.

Lance Clayton is a man who has learned to settle. He dreamed of being a rich and famous writer, but has only managed to make it as a high school poetry teacher. His only son Kyle is an insufferable jackass who won't give his father the time of day. Lance is dating Claire, the school's adorable art teacher, but she doesn't want to get serious -- or even acknowledge publicly that they are dating. Then, in the wake of a freak accident, Lance suffers the worst tragedy and greatest opportunity of his life.
