David returns home for the first time in a decade. Driving to his hotel at night, a bottle cracks his windshield, and he pursues the assailant on foot. Finally coming to a stop outside of a house, he is surprised to see Joan -- his high school sweetheart. The bottle thrower is her son, Ross, a troublemaker in desperate need of some guidance. After confronting Ross about his violent behavior, David is warned by the local sheriff to cut off contact with the boy. Shunned as an outcast by his former home, David is beaten and left with no alternative but to leave. But when Ross' life is threatened by a figure from David's past, he is forced to risk everything to expose a secret he's kept for 15 years, a secret that could tear the town apart.
